Siesta Beach
Come enjoy Siesta Beach, known as "the World's Finest and Whitest" beach.
Located in Siesta Key, only ten minute drive from the Holiday House Venice,
this beach is a spectacular playground for beach goers. Siesta Beach is
made from 99% pure quartz, and feels soft, powdery, and cool to the touch.
Even on the hottest days it feels cool underfoot and beach enthusiasts and
geologists trace the sands back millions of years to the rivers of the
Appalachians. You must experience to believe. It is a favorite among
people from all over the world. The beach facilities include picnic areas,
restrooms, concession stands, playground, trails, and tennis and volleyball courts.
Caspersen Beach
Located south of the Venice Airport, two thirds of beachfront have been
left in its natural state. It as uncultivated, windswept and secluded.
There are nature trails, freshwater and saltwater marshes, mangrove areas
and tidal flats. A favorite spot for finding sharks teeth.
Brohard Beach and Service Club Park
A city owned park with a 740 foot fishing pier for public use, wetlands
and several areas that are great for bird watching. The Service Club Park
offers playground equipment and boardwalks with covered picnic areas.
Located in this area is the U.S. Coast Guard Flotilla Training
Center.
Venice Beach
A favorite spot for divers. The beach has a reef containing fossilized
material located quarter mile offshore. Its close proximity to downtown
makes this a popular "walk to the beach" for residents and
visitors.
North Jetty Beach
Located on the tip of Casey Key, the jetties make this one of
the most exciting surfing beaches on the west coast of Florida. It is a
very popular picnicking spot for families and large groups and the fishing
is said to be spectacular. If you enjoy watching boats, this is a good
place to do so as they can be seen daily passing through the Intracoastal
Waterway.
Nokomis Beach
Heading west on Albee Road, you will find Sarasota's oldest
public beach. This family oriented beach is also popular for fishing and
includes a boat launch ramp. As you visit this beach, you may notice signs
of the U.S. Coast Guard. They use a portion of the bay side of this park
as their base of operations for an 82 foot cutter and its crew.
